Please note the earlier time: 6:15pm for a 6:30 start.
Lody Levy is teaching this week.
Lody’s topic this week is the 4th Brahma Vihara which is Equanimity.
Sharon Saltzberg refers to equanimity as the secret ingredient in mindfulness as it is the balance that is born of Wisdom. Equanimity in mindfulness helps us to develop insight through balance that is not distorted by fear, aversion or clinging.
Equanimity infuses the other three Brahma Viharas (Lovingkindness, Compassion and Joy) with Wisdom, keeping them from falling into their near enemies.
Lody Levy is a Buddhist Psychotherapist working inBrisbane. She has a well-established meditation practice over many years and regularly attends retreats in the Zen and Insight Meditation tradition. She is a graduate of the Insight Meditation Institute’s Mindfulness and Compassion Teacher Training course. Lody believes that meditation, compassion and mindfulness are essential qualities to cultivate if we are to live a wise and compassionate life, especially in these challenging times.
Mindfulness and concentration practices in the Buddhist tradition are developed to gain insight into the nature of existence, leading to an awareness of our interconnection to all of life. With an established mindfulness practice, we can actively cultivate the boundless qualities of the heart, which arise naturally and spontaneously when we are able to see into our true nature.
